Fibreglass duct insulation
Standard internal duct insulation for supply and return runs inside the conditioned envelope. Foil-faced with vapour barrier. 25mm, 38mm and 50mm thickness options. Cheapest and most common option for office and retail fit-outs.
Elastomeric (Armaflex, Aeroflex)
Closed-cell synthetic rubber for runs through unconditioned spaces — corridor plenums above false ceilings open to the sky, plant rooms, roof voids. Anti-condensation for chilled-water lines and cold duct runs. 13mm, 19mm and 25mm thickness.
Fire-rated insulation
Mineral wool fire blanket assemblies and DCD-compliant fire-rated duct cladding. Fire-stopping at penetrations through fire walls. For hotels, hospitals, multi-tenant towers and large retail where DCD requires duct runs through fire compartments to be fire-rated.
Acoustic duct lining
Sound-attenuating internal duct lining for noise-sensitive areas — boardrooms, recording studios, clinic treatment rooms, premium hotel rooms. External acoustic wrap where internal lining isn't feasible.
Retrofit insulation for existing ducts
Re-insulation of old runs where original insulation has degraded, fallen off, or wasn't suitable for the duct route. Common on 10+ year old buildings where condensation has been an ongoing complaint.
Vapour-barrier and foil-facing repair
Localised repair of damaged vapour barriers, foil facing, joint tape and seam seal. Stops condensation forming on the duct surface and dripping through ceiling tiles.
When each insulation type is right
Plain-English guide so you're not paying for fire-rated cladding when a standard fibreglass wrap is right for the run.
Fibreglass
Standard supply and return ducts inside the conditioned envelope. Cheapest, most common, suitable for most office and residential runs.
Armaflex / Aeroflex elastomeric
Any duct run through an unconditioned space — corridor plenums, plant rooms, roof voids. Stops condensation forming on the outside of the duct.
Fire-rated
Where DCD requires duct runs through fire compartments to be fire-rated. Hotels, hospitals, multi-tenant towers, large retail.
Acoustic lining
Where noise transmission through ducts is a concern — boardrooms, hospital wards, premium hotel rooms.
How we price duct insulation
Priced per square metre of duct surface area or per linear metre for retrofit runs. Fixed-price written quote on site survey or drawings review.
