What we cover

A proper recharge is never just adding gas. We confirm there is no leak, recover the existing charge cleanly, and weigh in the new refrigerant to the manufacturer specification.

Leak diagnosis before recharge

Electronic leak detector at every joint, plus a soap-bubble check on suspect connections. A system losing gas annually has a leak — we find it before quoting any top-up.

Nitrogen pressure testing

The system is held under nitrogen at manufacturer test pressure for 30 to 60 minutes. Pressure drop confirms whether the system is sealed before any refrigerant goes in.

R-22 service for legacy systems

Older units (pre-2015 installs) still run R-22. Supply is restricted and expensive — we are usually honest that a 12-year-old R-22 system is better replaced than refilled. See related page.

R-410A & R-32 for current splits

The standard on most Dubai-installed splits and ducted splits from 2015 onwards. Weighed-in charge to the nameplate, never pressure-only.

R-134a for chillers and refrigeration

Used in centrifugal chillers and some commercial cooling. Recovery, leak repair, recharge to spec, log of weight added. related page.

EPA-aligned refrigerant recovery

Old or contaminated refrigerant is recovered into a certified cylinder, never vented. We follow EPA-aligned handling because venting refrigerant is illegal and bad practice anywhere.

Vacuum to 500 microns before charge

Moisture in the lines reacts with refrigerant and oil and kills compressors. A proper deep vacuum removes it. Skipped on cheap top-ups; standard on ours.

Coil and filter check on the same visit

A "low gas" call is often a fouled coil throttling cooling. We check the coils and filters before assuming refrigerant is the issue. See related page.

Why leak diagnosis comes before recharge

AC refrigerant is not consumable. A correctly installed system never needs a top-up. If you are refilling every six to twelve months, the gas is going somewhere — and the next refill costs more than fixing the leak.

Repeat top-ups mean repeat costs

R-410A and R-32 prices have climbed in Dubai. Two refills equals one leak repair — and the leak only gets worse with each cycle.

Low charge damages the compressor

Refrigerant carries the compressor oil. Running undercharged means dry running, which is what burns out a compressor 4 to 5 years before its design life.

Vented refrigerant is illegal

R-22 has high ozone-depleting potential; R-410A and R-32 have high global warming potential. Recovery is the only correct way to handle the old charge.

Undercharged systems run hot

Compressor draws more current, supply-air temperature rises, the unit runs for longer to cool the room. Your DEWA bill is the early indicator before the unit fails.

Frozen evaporator damage

A low charge often causes the indoor coil to ice over and thaw in cycles. Water drips inside the room, insulation degrades, and the blower wheel can be permanently bent.

Warranty stays valid

Manufacturer warranties on the compressor (typically 5 years) require correct refrigerant charge. A pressure-only top-up without leak repair voids that protection.

How we price gas top-up & recharge

Fixed-price written quote before any chargeable work. Refrigerant prices vary by type and weight, so the call-out fee covers the leak check and confirms scope before recharge.

Indicative price brackets

  • Leak check & pressure test (residential split): AED 250–450
  • Top-up only, R-410A or R-32 (1.5–2.5 ton split): AED 400–800
  • Top-up R-22 (where supply permits): AED 600–1,100
  • Full recovery & recharge, ducted split: AED 1,200–2,800
  • Leak repair (joint braze & recharge): AED 800–2,500
  • R-134a chiller / commercial: quoted per system

What changes the price

Refrigerant type, system size, whether a leak is found and where, and accessibility of the outdoor unit. AMC clients skip the call-out fee and pay reduced labour rates.

Workmanship and material warranties

Two layers of cover on every recharge. The workmanship warranty is ours; refrigerant and parts pass through from the manufacturer or supplier.

Workmanship warranty

6-month workmanship warranty — if a joint we brazed leaks or a recharge fault returns within 6 months due to our work, we re-do the labour at no cost.

Warranty start date is recorded on the job report at handover, with refrigerant weight added, vacuum reading, and final pressure log.

Material warranties

Refrigerant is supplied from authorised channels with batch traceability. Replacement parts (driers, valves, flares, schraders) carry their manufacturer warranty — typically 0 to 10 years depending on the part. Exact terms are confirmed on the written quote before work begins.
