Carpentry Services in Dubai
Door repair and replacement, lock changes, wardrobe and cabinet fixes, drawer rebuilds, custom shelving, joinery touch-ups, skirting and architrave, threshold work. In-house carpenters for the jobs between "handyman" and "full fit-out" — sized properly, finished cleanly, hardware honoured.

What our carpentry team handles
Repairs, adjustments, and small custom work. For full kitchen, walk-in wardrobe, or fit-out joinery, see /office-shop-fitouts/ — the same carpenters do that work, but on a project schedule rather than a single visit.
Door hanging and replacement
Internal doors, bedroom and bathroom doors, sliding doors, panel doors. New door measured, mortised for hinges and lock, planed to fit, hung with three hinges where weight requires it. We don't shave the bottom blindly — we measure clearance off the finished floor first.
Door adjustment and re-shimming
Doors that catch on the frame, won't latch, scrape the floor, or have dropped on the hinge side. Most are 30-minute fixes — re-shim, re-anchor, plane the latch edge if needed. Replacing the whole door for a 2 mm catch is rarely the right answer.
Lock changes and hardware swaps
Cylinder swaps, full lockset replacement, smart-lock installation (Yale, August), interior handle and knob upgrades. Old hardware removed without leaving exposed screw holes; threshold strikes re-aligned where the new lockset bolts shorter or longer.
Wardrobe and cabinet repair
Hinges that have failed, doors that have dropped or rub, drawer fronts that have come loose, soft-close mechanisms gone hard. Blum and Häfele OEM parts kept on the van — we replace the hinge, not the cabinet.
Drawer rebuilds and slide replacement
Drawers that bind, run off the rail, or come out completely. Side-mount, undermount, and full-extension slides — we match the existing brand and weight rating rather than cross-fit cheap hardware into expensive cabinetry.
Custom shelving and built-ins
Wall-mounted floating shelves, alcove shelving, study built-ins, walk-in wardrobe additions. Plywood-cored carcase, melamine or veneer face, edge-banded properly. Sized to the wall — not cut to a stock dimension and packed out with shadow-line gaps.
Skirting, architrave, and trim work
New runs, repairs after flooring or door changes, mitred returns at corners. Real mitres, glued and pinned — not the gappy butt-joints that show up on wall after wall in older Dubai apartments.
Threshold and door-bottom work
Threshold strips, weather-seal under-door brushes (especially useful for AC efficiency), under-door planing for new flooring height. Front-door thresholds re-bedded where they've come loose.
Window-frame timber repair
Older villas with timber-framed windows — rotten sill repair, sash adjustment, frame re-hanging, paint prep on the bare timber before repaint. PVC and aluminium windows we route to the manufacturer (different trade) but advise honestly on the route.
Decking and outdoor timber
Garden decking repair, pergola post replacement, gate timber work. Hardwood-rated stainless or galvanised fixings, not interior-rated screws that rust through in a Dubai summer.
When to book a carpenter
Some signs are the joinery telling you it needs attention before something breaks properly.
Door that catches in summer
Humidity swells timber slightly. A 2 mm catch in March becomes a 4 mm catch in August. Re-shimming the hinges and lightly planing the latch edge takes 30 minutes — buying a new door takes a day and AED 600+.
Wardrobe door dropped or rubs
Hinge cup wear or a stripped screw in the carcase. Repair the hinge mounting, swap the hinge if it's the soft-close that's gone hard. Different from "we need a new wardrobe", which is rarely the answer.
Drawer that won't run flush
Slide misaligned, runner lifted off the side panel, or undermount clip released. Five-minute diagnosis, 20-minute repair when the right replacement slide is on the van.
Lock that turns but won't latch
Strike plate misaligned with the lockset. Often follows a door that has dropped slightly — fix the hinge first, then the strike. Replacing the lock without fixing the hinge means the lock fails again in 6 weeks.
Skirting lifted or split at corners
Movement, water spillage, or vacuum-cleaner damage. Replace the affected section with a proper mitred return, not a butt-joint with caulk that yellows.
Outdoor timber decking lifted
Hardwood movement plus failed fixings. Re-fix with stainless screws, plane the high points, treat the cut ends. Don't over-tighten — the boards need to move with temperature.
How a carpentry call-out runs
Six steps. Single repairs in one visit; custom shelving and built-ins in two — measure visit and install visit.
WhatsApp the issue
Photo of the door / drawer / cabinet plus a quick description. We classify repair vs replacement vs custom work and confirm whether it's a single-visit fix or needs a measure-and-make schedule.
Quote in writing
Single-visit repairs quoted before dispatch. Custom work (shelving, built-ins) takes a 30-minute measure visit, then a written line-item quote covering materials, joinery, finishing, and install.
Right kit on arrival
Cordless drills (Bosch, Makita), planer, mitre saw and trim saw on the van for in-place trimming, full set of router bits, OEM Blum and Häfele hinges and slides in common sizes. Mortising tools for door work.
Repair / install on site
Single-visit repairs done on the visit. Custom work delivered finished from our workshop, then installed on site — site cuts only for scribe-to-wall or service-cut-out work, not whole pieces.
Finish and adjust
Hinges adjusted to the millimetre — vertical, horizontal, depth. Drawers run square. Skirting mitres tight. Doors close cleanly without slamming or sticking. Touch-up paint or wax where the join meets existing finish.
Handover photos + warranty
Job report on WhatsApp with before/after. Workmanship warranty start date logged. Payment after handover; for custom work a deposit is taken at the measure visit, balance on install.
How carpentry work is priced
Single-visit repairs at a fixed call-out fee. Custom joinery quoted line-item after a measure visit.
Repairs vs custom work
Hinge replacement, drawer fix, door adjustment, lock change — all priced as single-visit repairs at a fixed call-out fee plus parts. Custom shelving, built-ins, replacement doors — quoted line-item with materials, fabrication, and install separated.
What changes the price
- Repair vs replacement vs new fabrication
- Material — MDF / plywood / solid timber / veneered board
- Hardware quality — Blum and Häfele cost more than generic but last 4× longer
- Finish — primer-only / painted / lacquered / veneered
- Site access and protection (delicate flooring, occupied properties)
How to get a quote
WhatsApp photos plus rough dimensions if you have them. For repairs we confirm the price before dispatch. For custom work we book a measure visit, then issue a written quote within the same working day.
Workmanship and material warranties
Two layers on every carpentry job. Workmanship is ours; material warranties on hardware (hinges, slides, locks) pass through directly from the manufacturer.
workspace_premiumWorkmanship warranty
6-month workmanship warranty — if the same issue returns within 6 months due to our work, we'll fix it free of charge. Covers labour only.
For carpentry specifically: a hinge that loosens because we under-anchored, a drawer slide that fails its first month of use, a custom shelf that pulls from the wall — all covered under workmanship if traced to our install.
verifiedMaterial warranties
Material warranties depend on the products and hardware we install. Many of the brands we work with — including Häfele, Blum, Hettich, Yale, Jeld-Wen, and others — carry manufacturer warranties ranging from 1 to 10 years depending on the product. We'll confirm exact warranty terms for the specific materials used on your project before work begins.
Frequently asked questions
What warranty do you provide?
We offer two layers of warranty. First, a 6-month workmanship warranty on the labour we perform — if the same issue returns within 6 months due to our work, we re-do it at no cost. Second, material warranties pass through directly from manufacturers — some systems we install carry warranties of up to 10 years. We'll share exact warranty terms for your specific project before we start.
Does the workmanship warranty cover parts and equipment?
No. Parts, fixtures, and equipment are covered by their manufacturer warranties, which we pass through to you directly. The workmanship warranty covers only the quality of the installation or repair work itself.
Can you adjust a door rather than replace it?
Almost always. Doors that catch, won't latch, or have dropped on the hinge side are 30-minute fixes — re-shim hinges, re-anchor screws into solid timber (not stripped pilot holes), plane the latch edge if needed. Replacement is the right call only when the door itself is split, water-damaged, or rotten. We tell you straight when which applies.
Do you do custom shelving and built-ins?
Yes — wall-mounted floating shelves, alcove shelving, study built-ins, walk-in wardrobe additions, kitchen tall units. Plywood-cored carcase, melamine or veneer face, edge-banded properly. Two-visit schedule (measure, then install) so the piece is finished in our workshop and only positioning happens on site.
Can you repair a wardrobe door without replacing the whole unit?
Yes — and that's usually the right call. Hinge wear, soft-close mechanism failure, and dropped doors are all hinge-replacement jobs (Blum or Häfele OEM, kept on the van in common sizes). Replacing a single door panel is also possible when the carcase is sound. We assess on the visit and advise honestly on whether repair is realistic or whether replacement is the better economy.
Do you change locks between tenancies?
Yes — standard practice between tenancies. New cylinders or full lockset replacement, new keys cut, photographed and logged. Smart-lock upgrades possible at the same visit if the door is already off. Strike plates re-aligned where the new lockset bolt geometry differs from the original.
Will the repair match the existing finish?
For repairs to existing joinery — yes, we colour-match touch-up paint or wax fillers to your existing finish. For new pieces (custom shelving, replacement doors) we can fabricate to match your existing wardrobe or kitchen style, but slight variation in board batch and grain direction means a perfect-match is rarely achievable. We share samples before fabrication so you see exactly what to expect.
